About the project
Words have amazing power. They can express emotions, give meaning to our experiences, but sometimes – haunt us, even if we don't want them to.
This project shows how a swear word once said or heard can stick in the mind and never let go.
In Bad Words, you are invited to enter any swear word, after which its letters will start following your cursor, as if reminding you of what was said.
Main idea
The project visualizes two key concepts:
⚫ The complexity of getting rid of swear words – once we get used to certain words, they easily enter our speech and can stay with us for a long time.
⚫ Emotional release – it is not always necessary to suppress your emotions. Sometimes swearing helps to cope with tension, and this project offers a safe space for their release.
How it works?
- Enter a swear word in the special field.
- Once you start the project, the letters of the word will come to life and start moving behind your cursor.
- The longer the word stays on the screen, the more it manifests itself – the letters can accelerate, enlarge, or move chaotically.
- If you try to erase it, it may not be so simple – words do not always disappear immediately, leaving a "trace" behind.
Creating the project
From idea to full implementation of this project, it took us just 9 hours. We wanted to show how quickly words can start living their own lives – even in the digital space.
